‘Zonad’ is an Irish comedy film directed by John Carney who previously gave us the delightful little romantic-musical (one of my favorite romantic movies) ‘Once’.
On a day when a comet is to be sighted in the sky a small Irish town gets a visit from a weird man who claims to be an alien from another planet. He calls himself Zonad & soon becomes popular with the rest of the townsfolk but is he really what he claims to be or a fraud?
The movie is based on an earlier short film which Carney wrote & directed way back in 2003 starring Cillian Murphy but the movie was never released.
Kinda reminds me of another favorite of mine, the highly underrated Kevin Spacey – Jeff Bridges starrer K-Pax, though from the trailer I can see unlike the previous movie the tone is far lighter & the aim seems to be to make people laugh. Unfortunately the trailer doesn’t seem to give a very funny vibe but I’d watch it nonetheless simply because of John Carney.
