If you like to release the day’s tension by bawling your eyes out in front of a sad movie, then look no further than My Sister's Keeper.

Set in L.A, we follow the story of a young girl, Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) as she sets out to sue her parents for the right to her own body. Anna was brought into the world to be spare body parts for her older sister Kate (Sofia Vassilieva), who is suffering from an acute form of Leukemia. From a baby Anna has had countless painful operations and hospitalizations to donate whatever her sister needs. Now they want one of her kidneys and Anna has had enough! She seeks out one of L.A.'s top lawyers (Alec Baldwin) to help her with the case and to her surprise he agrees to help.

My Sister's Keeper is a strange story and throughout the movie you wonder what kind of parents would do this to their own daughter. Anna's mother Sara (Cameron Diaz) plays a good unlikable woman, fighting everyone including Anna to save her sick child Kate, while Kate herself watches her family fall apart. The twist near the end of the movie only works to make the overall story a little less strange.

Good performance from Abigail Breslin who seems to be in Hollywood for some time to come. Technically nothing special, but the movie doesn't require any fancy stuff. The script leaves a lot of holes and is very unrealistic at times, in fact the whole movie is unrealistic but I think we're just supposed to accept that.

What the movie is really trying to show is how individual characters deal with death; it's a real tear jerker so stock up on tissues and perhaps watch a comedy after to cheer yourself up.

Final Verdict: One time watch with tissues and leave it at that
