Will Forte spoofs McGyver in this action-comedy.

‘MacGruber’ is popular character skit on ‘Saturday Night Live’ which spoofs the T.V. show MacGyver that ran between 1985-1992 & starred ‘Stargate Sg-1’s Richard Dean Anderson as the super resourceful secret agent MacGyver who could make a nuclear missile in the middle of the desert with just a toothbrush & bubblegum. Since this is a spoof naturally ‘MacGruber’ is the incompetent version of ‘MacGyver’ & even though he has the ability to get out of tight spots by his knowledge of how to combine simple household items to create weapons his otherwise stupidity gets in the way of a proper escape. Every episode on SNL had one guest celebrity play ‘MacGruber’s assistant & a similar thing takes place here with Ryan Phillipe.

The movie stars Will Forte as MacGruber, Ryan Phillipe, Kirsten Wiig, Maya Rudolph & a very chubby looking, Val Kilmer. It releases on the 23rd of April 2010 in the U.S. Frankly I found the trailer sorely lacking in laughs so not a movie I’m looking forward to.
