Ryan Reynolds has turned into quite the leading man in Hollywood these days. Along with his upcoming ‘Deadpool’ & ‘Green Lantern’ comic books adaptation where he plays the title characters he’s done some pretty successful romantic comedies. With ‘Buried’ he tries his hand at something quite challenging & different.
Ryan Reynolds plays a civil contractor working in Iraq who is kidnapped & buried alive in the desert with only a candle, a knife & a cell phone. With time running out on his ransom deadline he faces a suffocating death & has to use his wits & quick thinking to stay alive.
The trailer has a interesting way of conveying the claustrophobic environment in which Reynolds is trapped & also utilizing the cell phone camera quality video to show the limited resources he has. Though the success of the movie will rest solely on Reynolds shoulders as he’d be on screen alone for most of it’s running length.
The movie releases at the Sundance Festival on the 21st of January 2010.
