Andrea picks Anupama as her recommendation & marvels at it's beauty & simplicty.

Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, ‘Anupama’ (1966) is a beautifully simple film about the struggle of a reserved young woman to reconnect with life and accept the happiness that she deserves. After Anupama’s mother dies at childbirth, her father despises and adores her by turns, causing her to withdraw into herself. It is with the appearance of a young poet in her life (Dharmendra) and several new friends that she finally begins to live properly. Much like its heroine, the film’s beauty lies in its simplicity… it has a quietness and serenity to it that is missing from many movies. The movie stars Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Shashikala, Deven Verma & Durga Khote.

‘Anupama’ is a beautiful movie, rich in its portrayal of complicated emotions and should be seen by everybody at least once.

A hauntingly beautiful song by the late Hemant Kumar in 'Anupama'
