Salman Khan in a period action epic. Watch the first trailer.

Salman Khan’s period epic ‘Veer’ is almost on the horizon & the first trailer for the movie is out.

The movie is set during the British occupation of India in 1875 where while all the kingdoms surrender to the British or are defeated by them, the brave tribe of the Pindaris hold out fearlessly preferring death to surrender (sic). Veer played by Salman Khan happens to be their strongest warrior who also has a love story of his own with a clone of Katrina Kaif….oh sorry….Princess Yashodhara played by Zarine Khan.

The trailer surely shows that a lot of money has been spent on the movie & some of the actions sequences look pretty impressive but the love story part made me cringe like crazy & don’t even ask about the scenes set in Britain.

The movie’s cast includes Salman Khan, Sohail Khan (Surprise! Surprise!!), Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff & newcomer Zarine Khan. It’s directed by Anil Sharma who gave us the violently jingoistic ‘Gadar’ back in 2001 so expect some pretty heavy handed Brit-bashing in this one.

The movie releases in India on the 22nd of January 2010.
