What do you get when you mix a frog, a princess & Disney? Watch the trailer to find out.
Disney finally returns to its roots after a hiatus of nearly five years. I’m talking about good-ole-fashioned 2D animation musical which usually involves adapting a fairy tale & princesses. The fairy tales in question this time are ‘The Frog Prince’ from the Grimm Brothers Fairy Tales & the 2002 book ‘The Frog Princess’ written by E.D. Baker which serve as inspirations for ‘The Princess & The Frog’.
Prince Naveen of Maldonia is turned into a frog by an evil voodoo doctor when he visits some swampy town south of the Mason-Dixon Line. In order to break the spell he hopes that a kiss from a beautiful girl whom he thinks to be a princess will break the curse but instead she gets transformed into a frog herself & now the two of them have to run around the south across various towns searching for help on how to break the curse.
The trailer surely gives it the classical Disney feel with all the songs & the singing animals & the of course the princess. I hope the movie turns out to be more than just show & a real return to the animation days of the old. The voice actors on the film include the likes of Anika Noni Rose, Oprah Winfrey, Keith David, John Goodman & Terrence Howard.
The movie releases in the U.S. on the 11th of December 2009.
