Morgan Freeman finally plays the role he was born to, Nelson Mandela. This also happens to be the third time Clint Eastwood & Morgan Freeman have collaborated and I’d expect nothing less than the best from the both of them.
Invictus tells the story of Nelson Mandela’s attempts to unite the people of South Africa using the sport of Rugby after his election as the first president post-apartheid. He’s assisted by the then captain of the rugby team Francois Pienaar who’s played by Matt Damon.
With Clint Eastwood behind the camera having done some remarkable work in the past few years it’d be a treat to watch this flick. Plus with Freeman I can expect him to be knocking on the doors of the Oscars with this performance.
Invictus releases in the U.S. on the 11th of December 2009.
