I never actually wanted to watch this movie; if I'd had a choice I would've gone to see Bachna Ae Haseeno instead and left this one for Dan to do. However I was dragged along to see it by a friend who had been a dancer in one of the songs and wanted to see herself on the screen. In the end all I could see of Hayley was her legs and that lasted for all of 5 seconds. The rest of the three hours or so was pure torture.
The only people who are likely to enjoy this movie are die hard Salman Khan fans, because honestly I can't think of anybody else who would want to watch it. The story is badly written, the humour is both idiotic and childish and the movie is frankly quite boring. However in case you're curious or still considering watching it, I will describe the plot.
Arun (Salman Khan) blames God for everything that goes wrong in his life. If his father (Anupam Kher) scolds him, if his car breaks down, if his sister gets rejected by a suitor, if he does badly at the television station he works at, etc, etc. It's all God's fault.
Finally Arun's life takes a serious turn for the worse, Rocky (Sohail Khan) arrives as the new creative head of Arun's tv channel. He's an old friend of the Alia (Priyanka Chopra), the girl that Arun is in love with, and quickly goes about showing up Arun at every turn possible. Rocky even steals Arun's show idea from him and gets him kicked out of the channel.
So Arun curses God (played by Amitabh Bachchan) for all this, and in turn, God offers him the opportunity to have all of God's powers for 10 days to see if he can do a better job of running the world. So Arun of course accepts and for the first 9 days selfishly goes about making his life own life great, getting his job back, helping his sister become beautiful, winning over Alia and teaching Rocky a lesson. It's only on the 10th day that he decides to do something for the rest of the world, royally stuffs it up and causes major havoc and heartbreak.
So Arun (and we, the obviously stupid audience) learn that it's not easy to be God, and we should give the guy a break. Ho hum. Amitabh gives a speech at the end about how we should all live together peacefully but that's rather ho hum as well. By that stage I was just itching to get out of the theatre, I probably would've walked out earlier if I hadn't had to write this review and hadn't spent so much money on my ticket.
Salman does not look at his best and completely hams his acting, the emotional scenes are terrible. Priyanka Chopra is Priyanka Chopra…nothing different at all and nothing really to comment on. Sohail Khan is annoying; he probably got stuck with his role because nobody else would agree to do it. Amitabh Bachchan should've had better sense; I hope he didn't accept it just because he wanted a chance to play God.
The worst movie I've seen so far this year, it should never have been released. Go and watch Bruce Almighty Instead.
Final Verdict: Avoid this movie at all costs!! It will drain the intelligence out of your brain and leave you feeling like an idiot for wasting your time and money God Agar Tussi Itna Great Ho.... strike down the makers of this film.
